Listen Up! Music is a Portland, ME-based nonprofit community support day program and music studio that supports adult musicians with intellectual uniqueness in making music. Established in 2012, Listen Up! provides opportunities for musicians to work on writing, arranging, recording, performing, and marketing their music to the local music community and beyond.

Listen Up! works with musicians of all technical abilities and skills and seeks to promote a musical community based on creativity, excitement, joy, and inclusiveness. The musicians receive 50% of the sales of the albums made, with the remaining 50% going into running the program and purchasing new instruments and equipment.

In our studio we currently have two computer recording setups, as well as acoustic and electric guitars, keyboards, two pianos, amps, drums, percussion, woodwinds, brass, steel drums, and more for our musicians to explore and create with. We’ve made music of every genre imaginable (and created some of our own!), and have also performed in small spaces and big stages around Portland.

We are always on the lookout for working musical instruments and equipment for borrow or donation, as well as guest musicians who would be interested in volunteering or leading a workshop. Get in contact with us if you are interested!
